Roof Lantern Repairs — Supplied & Installed

Not every lantern problem needs a new lantern. Misted glass units, perished seals, slipped flashings, failed opening-vent motors — most faults are repairable at a fraction of replacement cost.

Roof Lantern Repairs

The detail that matters

Our repair teams trace leaks properly, replace glass units in situ and reseal junctions on all major lantern systems, with honest advice when repair genuinely isn't worth it.

Lantern repair is diagnosis first. Water showing at the internal reveal can originate at the ridge capping, a hip junction, the kerb flashing or even the flat roof beyond — so we trace before we quote, rather than resealing everything and hoping. Common jobs: replacing misted or cracked double-glazed units (measured, manufactured and fitted in situ), renewing perished gaskets and silicone junctions, re-bedding slipped cappings, servicing or replacing opening-vent actuators, and re-dressing kerb flashings. Where a lantern is genuinely beyond economic repair — early non-broken aluminium, rotten softwood — we say so and price the replacement honestly alongside.

Frequently asked questions

My lantern glass has misted up — can it be fixed?

Yes — misting means the sealed unit has failed, not the lantern. We measure the pane, manufacture a matching unit (including self-clean or solar coatings) and fit it in situ, usually within a couple of weeks.

Water is dripping from my lantern — what's the likely cause?

Could be five things: ridge capping, hip junction, perimeter seal, kerb flashing or the flat roof itself, with condensation a sixth impostor. We trace the actual path before quoting, so you pay to fix the real fault.

Can you repair lanterns you didn't supply?

Yes — repairs cover all major aluminium, uPVC and timber systems regardless of who installed them. Photos of the lantern and the fault speed up the first visit.

Is condensation between the panes repairable?

The pane itself isn't — once a sealed unit's edge seal fails it's replaced, not resealed. The frame stays; only the glass unit changes.

When is repair not worth it?

When the frame itself has failed: non-thermally-broken early aluminium running with condensation, or softwood gone soft. We'll tell you straight on survey and price both routes.
