Nine out of ten lanterns we supply sit on a flat roof, and the difference between a dry roof and a problem roof is the junction: the upstand, the membrane dressing, the flashing. This page is about getting that right.

We supply flat-roof lanterns complete with kerb specifications and flashing guidance for EPDM, GRP and felt roofs — and install them with the junction detail included.
Every flat-roof lantern needs a kerb — a timber upstand, minimum 150mm above the finished roof, sized to the lantern's external dimensions. We issue the exact kerb sizes the day you order so your roofer can build it while the lantern is fabricated. On installation, the roof membrane dresses up and over the kerb before the lantern lands on a continuous seal; EPDM wraps, GRP is laminated, felt is torch-dressed. Our fitting teams handle the lantern-to-kerb seal and trims; supply-only packs include section drawings of the junction for whichever membrane your roof uses.
Standard sizes below — made to measure quoted same day. Installation available nationwide if you’d rather we fit it.

A timber kerb at least 150mm above the finished roof surface, built to the lantern's external footprint. We issue exact dimensions at order so it's ready before the lantern arrives.
On installed projects, we coordinate it: the roofer dresses the membrane over the kerb, we bed and seal the lantern onto it. Supply-only orders include junction drawings for EPDM, GRP and felt so your roofer details it correctly.
Yes — we cut in, trim the joists, form the kerb and make good the membrane as part of an installed retrofit. A survey confirms joist direction and any services in the void first.
The lantern doesn't, but the junction detail differs: EPDM wraps the kerb, GRP laminates onto it, felt is torch-dressed. We supply the right drawing for each.
Almost always the junction, not the lantern — short upstands, membrane finished under rather than over the kerb, or missing seals. Build the kerb right and dress the membrane right, and the assembly is dependable for decades.
Send the form and we’ll come back with honest prices — supply-only or installed — with a response within 1 working hour.
