uPVC Roof Lanterns — Supplied & Installed

A uPVC lantern is the most affordable way to put a real glazed lantern on a flat roof. Modern systems bear little resemblance to the conservatory roofs of the nineties — the profiles are stronger, the glazing far better, the looks genuinely contemporary.

The detail that matters

We supply and install uPVC roof lanterns UK-wide in white and foiled grey finishes, made to measure with the full glazing range.

Today's uPVC lantern systems use steel or aluminium-reinforced ridges to control the spans, multi-chambered profiles for insulation and 28mm glazing identical to their aluminium cousins. The bars are inevitably chunkier than aluminium — that's the honest trade-off — but at typical domestic sizes the difference reads less than buyers expect, and the saving is substantial. White is the classic finish; anthracite woodgrain foil has become the contemporary favourite. For rental properties, budget-led extensions and value-focused refurbishments, uPVC remains the sensible specification.

Frequently asked questions

How much cheaper is uPVC than aluminium?

Typically 25–40% on a like-for-like size, depending on spec. On a standard kitchen-extension lantern that's a saving worth having if the slimmer aluminium bars aren't a priority.

Do uPVC lanterns look cheap?

Not in current systems — anthracite foil finishes and improved proportions have closed much of the visual gap. At larger sizes aluminium still wins on slimness, which is why we'll show you both.

Will a uPVC lantern discolour?

Quality modern uPVC carries UV stabilisation and colourfast foils with long guarantees. The yellowing associated with older white plastic belongs to a previous generation of material.

Is uPVC strong enough for a big lantern?

With reinforced ridges, uPVC handles standard domestic sizes comfortably. For very large spans we'd steer you to aluminium, where the engineering headroom is greater.

Can uPVC lanterns have self-clean glass?

Yes — the glazing options are identical to our aluminium range, including self-clean coatings and blue or neutral solar control.
